Synopsis
Three young men walk into Eastern Europe carrying their appetites like luggage. The town takes them in. The town has a system. Somewhere between the sauna and the dungeon, pleasure curdles into something that cannot be undone, and the film watches this transformation with the flat attention of a surveillance camera. Paxton will either become a survivor or something worse. The question the movie is actually asking, once the exploitation scaffolding drops away, is whether those two things are different at all. Roth builds his trap slowly, then springs it fast, and what lingers is not the gore but the economics.
